Made up my mind
(Original post created: 2007-04-02 17:29:35)Referring to the previous post, that is. A pair of new ESI nEar05 studio monitors are now part of my setup, as well as a Soundcraft Compact4 mixer. Both the price and the actual size (they fit well on my desk) were important factors for getting the ESI's, but most important of course the clarity of the sound and the fact that I've been in desperate need of a pair of reference speakers.
I'm slightly unsure about the positioning though. I noticed that if I put them on top of my old speakers, my ears will be in perfect position between the bass and treble speaker elements. However I don't know if my old speakers will produce resonance or affect the sound in other ways. Any monitor/speaker guru reading this who can help? :)

No one has answered with regards to the placement of the monitors, but I've had them on top of my old speakers for roughly two weeks now and I must say I'm quite satisfied. No resonance or anything as far as I've noticed. :)
